 Ed Callaert, a longtime resident of Marin County, California, was born in The Hague, Holland. His early years were spent in Surinam, South America but moved to the U.S. with his parents before he was 10 years old. After graduation from the University of Illinois and stints as a teacher, mechanic and carpenter, he settled on photography as his
life's work. Travel, backpacking and camping were the great pleasures of his life and the photography was a good fit. Self-taught in photography, he is always looking for the different angle, a new horizon, and lesser-visited places in the wide open American West. He works primarily with a 4x5 view camera, hoping the large format will help his viewers appreciate nature as he sees it. Ed's published credits include calendar images in Browntrout, Audubon and Sierra Club and magazines like Outdoor Photographer and Sunset. | ||||
